DDD 2021: Bate Fado - Open call

Duo Jonas&Lander is looking for three dancers to participate in their upcoming piece, Bate Fado, which will be presented at the DDD – Festival Dias da Dança, in May 2021.


- Dancers with a solid tap-dancing technique (American tap dance, flamenco, fandango, among others)


- Dancers with a strong rhythmic sense with the ability to learn different dance techniques.

Dancers’ backgrounds may be linked to folk, urban or contemporary dance. Singing is a plus, but not compulsory.

Candidates must present two videos:

- a solo created for one of the guitar tunes which can be found in the following link:

This solo must be based on tap dancing. Rhythm can also be explored with other parts of the body such as hands, palms, body percussion, objects, among others.

- A vocal performance of a traditional song, such as fado, tango,rancheras, Cuban music, Brazilian music, Cape Verdean music, Portuguese, African or Latin American folklore, among others.

Selected dancers will be invited to attend some training sessions at Lisbon-based Estúdios Victor Cordon. The cast of Bate Fado will be selected among those participating in these training sessions.
