The performance "Encantado", by Lia Rodrigues / Companhia de Danças, is one of the shows that will open the 7th edition of DDD - Festival Dias da Dança on April 18th and 19th.
Encantado is inspired by the enchanted ones, entities that belong to the Afro-indigenous world, who transit between heaven and earth and transform them into sacred places. These unknown forces are affected by the destruction of forests, rivers and seas.
According to the choreographer, enchanted is a "non-Western and non-Eurocentric" view of the world, which "was born from the desire to use magic and enchantment as guides for our creative process".
In a choreography that has 11 performers, Lia Rodrigues questions herself on how we can "enchant our fears" and get closer to each other.
The artist is once again part of DDD after having presented in 2019, Fúria at Teatro Nacional São João. In 2017 she had already been at Teatro Campo Alegre with "Para que o céu não caia".
Lia Rodrigues was a dancer in the French company Maguy Marin, between 1980 and 1992. In 1990, she founded Companhia de Danças and in 1992, created the annual festival, Panorama da Dança, which she directed until 2005. Nowadays, is associated artist of the Théâtre National of Chaillot and to the Centquatre-Paris.
Mixing activism and utopia, Lia believes in the synergy between art and social processes and now presents her most recent show in Grande Auditório do Rivoli, on April 18th and 19th, at 19h30.
The show will also be presented at Culturgest, on April 15th, in Lisbon.
