André Mendes was born in 1990, in Vila Nova de Famalicão. In 2012 he completed the contemporary dance performance course at Balleteatro Escola Profissional. In 2014, he was resident performer with the Ballet Contemporâneo do Norte (Northern Contemporary Ballet) company. Since 2012 he has worked with various artists, including Victor Hugo Pontes, Né Barros, Mariana Tengner Barros, Joclécio Azevedo, Tânia Carvalho and Luís Guerra. As choreographer, he created the pieces Encounters (2013, jointly with Ricardo Pereira); Showroom (2014) and Trojan Horse (2015).
