Olga Roriz did her training at the Teatro Nacional de São Carlos Dance School and at the National Conservatory Dance School, in Lisbon. She worked with Ballet Gulbenkian between 1976 and 1992 as first ballerina and choreographer. She later took on the artistic direction of the Lisbon Dance Company, and in 1995 she founded the Olga Roriz Company. Her repertoire in the fields of dance, theatre, opera and film includes over 90 productions, having presented, created and recast pieces for national and international companies. Olga Roriz received countless artistic awards and was granted the Order of Prince Henry (2004). In 2017, she was given an honorary doctorate for artistic excellence from the University of Aveiro.
