Lígia Soares is a choreographer and dramatist, who has been questioning scenic space as an estranged space. Her works confront a way of looking at what’s contemporary that reflects co-presence as the only way to experience. She started working professionally with the theatre company Sensurround in 1997. She was artist in residence at Tanzfabrik (Berlin) between 2004 and 2006, and a danceWEB (Vienna) scholarship recipient in 2018. Her work has been presented at home and abroad, appearing in several contemporary theatre and dance programmes. Together with her sister, Andresa Soares, she is the artistic director of Máquina Agradável.
