BPI and “la Caixa”
Foundation will be sponsoring the DDD – Festival Dias da Dança, which upcoming edition
will be held between April 15 and May 2 2021.
Initially planned for the 2020 edition, which
was cancelled, this support recognises the role of the festival in the
promotion of contemporary dance and its local and international creators. It is
yet another example of the support that BPI and “la Caixa” Foundation have been
granting to cultural-driven projects.
“Over 110 years after its
creation, the "la Caixa" Foundation represents nowadays a unique
model of social commitment, being one the first foundation in Spain and one of
the most important in the European Union. In 2018 it started its implementation
in Portugal, as a consequence of BPI's entry in CaixaBank. One of the
principles of "la Caixa" Foundation's work is to promote a better
society, with a special focus on the most vulnerable groups, and by supporting
projects in the social area, research, education and scientific and cultural
dissemination. Cultural dissemination activities in particular are one of the
main intervention areas; and in the context, it establishes collaborations with
a vast network of reference cultural entities in Portugal”, explains Honorary President
of BPI and curator of “La Caixa” Artur Santos Silva.
“It is
therefore with great enthusiasm that we support initiatives such as the DDD,
which besides being a showcase of all the strength of expression and diversity of
contemporary dance, also seeks to raise awareness and train younger generations
to dance”, stated Santos Silva.
The full
programming of the DDD 2021 will be unveiled in March.
