The 9th edition of DDD – Festival Dias da Dança had an occupancy rate of 92%. Over the course of 12 days, 27 performances were presented – 19 of which were world or national premieres –, for a total of 48 performances, on 18 stages spread across Porto, Matosinhos and Gaia.
Drew Klein, artistic director of DDD, Teatro Municipal do Porto and CAMPUS Paulo Cunha e Silva, sums up: “The 9th edition of DDD represented another step forward in the growth and recognition of the festival as an essential platform for the performing arts in Portugal. The performances held in Porto, Matosinhos and Gaia demonstrated the extraordinary potential of diverse artistic visions, addressing themes such as accessibility, cultural identity and the strength of the collective.”
Between April 23 and May 4, DDD also had the presence of more than 60 artistic programmers from Spain, Germany, Greece, Belgium, Romania, France, Switzerland, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Ireland, England, Portugal, Cape Verde, Canada and Senegal, reaffirming the mission of this performing arts festival as a privileged stage for national artists to showcase their work and project themselves internationally.
At the invitation of DDD, 290 artists and their respective delegations visited Porto, Gaia and Matosinhos.
“Taking into account the dynamics of the public, the increase in occupancy rate compared to the last edition, and the increase in the presence of national and international programmers, the growing interest in the festival and its vibrant dynamics are evident”, concludes Drew Klein.
DDD – Festival Dias da Dança, co-organized by the Municipalities of Porto, Matosinhos and Gaia, returns in April 2026 for its 10th edition.
