Agora baixou o sol

Agora baixou o sol takes its title from a traditional song from northwest Portugal, sung at the end of the working day. This lost tradition of marking the day through song and gesture — as a kind of solar liturgy — serves as the starting point for a vocal choreography reflecting on states of vulnerability and fragility. The piece explores the physicality of calling songs, interjections and imitative sounds inherited from work practices and interaction with animals. In this solo, the relationship between loss, time and ageing questions the possibilities of regeneration and community through dance as a vehicle for belonging, resistance and pleasure. — Luísa Saraiva
