In recent years I have noticed as a performer the power we can have when we are close to the members of the public, the power of them following us, wanting to get to know us, wanting to ask us questions. I am fascinated most of all by the people I meet in the street. An audience that is raw, shy, worried, direct. "Private audience" is a creation conceived to develop that relationship. A dancer chooses to place herself in a finite space, raised above the height of the audience. She presents herself and at the same time restricts herself, exalts herself and at the same time punishes herself. Parallel to her, space for one spectator. Anyone passing chooses to enter that private space or chooses not to. A dance for public space. A dance of one-to-one and one for all. - Catarina Félix
