Wilde is based on Oscar Wilde’s Lady Windermere’s Fan: A Play About a Good Woman (a satire on Victorian morality), and more specifically on BBC Radio 7’s radio version of the play from the 1940s. The cunning elaboration of a lie by a woman with a dubious reputation ensures the play’s happy ending.
