Dançando com a Diferença with Bouchra Ouizguen

Bouchra Ouizguen (1980, Ouarzazate) is one of the central figures of contemporary dance in Morocco. After her first experimental pieces, she co-founded the Anania association in 2002 and founded Compagnie O in 2010. International recognition came with Madame Plaza, which earned her the SACD Choreographic Revelation Award and the Critics' Union Award in France. This was followed by notable creations such as Voyage Cola (with Alain Buffard), Ha! and Corbeaux, whose aesthetics generated installations were exhibited at the MUCEM. In 2015, he premiered Ottof and, in 2017, he created Jerada for the Norwegian company Carte Blanche, which was presented at DDD 2017, at Rivoli. In 2019, she presented Éléphant ou le temps suspendu at the Rabat Biennale, and in 2022, Éléphant at the Kunstenfestivaldesarts.
Dançando com a Diferença is a Portuguese professional contemporary dance company, recognized for its artistic innovation, technical excellence, and promotion of bodily diversity. Since its founding in Madeira in 2001, the company has affirmed the importance of the non-normative/dissident body on national and international stages. It promotes artistic literacy, cultural inclusion, and the personal and professional development of performers. It develops structured projects with social and cultural impact in national and international contexts, with the aim of strengthening social cohesion, intergenerational dialogue, and democratizing access to art.
