Isabel Barros & Carlos Guedes
Isabel Barros is an artist, co-founder of balleteatro (1983), artistic director of Teatro de Marionetas do Porto, since 2010, and Museu das Marionetas do Porto, since 2013. She has a vast path of artistic creation, in which she emphasises the crossing of languages, namely dance, theatre and puppetry. She soon became interested in creating projects, privileging transversal and alternative formats with other artists and with the community. In 2014, she created the Festival Corpo + Cidade, dedicated to the performance in public spaces, which became part of the DDD – Festival Dias da Dança programming in 2016. In 2018, she received the Gold Medal of Merit of the Municipality of Porto.
Carlos Guedes composes for many different purposes. Aside from traditional concert music, he created musical pieces for dance and theatre performances, films and installations. He has presented his work abroad, especially in Europe, USA and more recently the Middle East. He has a doctorate in composition from the New York University (NYU). He was a teacher at ESMAE – Higher School of Music and Performing Arts (2002-13), ESART IPCB – Higher School of Applied Arts Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco (2005-09) and University of Porto (2009-13). He’s currently associate professor and director of the musical programme at NYU Abu Dhabi.
