Isilda Sanches
Journalist, radio broadcaster and DJ,
Isilda Sanches started writing about music in the late 80s and working in radio
in 1994, on the mythical XFM, the radio that introduced Portuguese listeners to
dance music and whose influence was felt well beyond the slightly more than 3
years it lasted. Since then, Isilda Sanches has continued to spread the word,
or her knowledge and taste in music, both through writing and radio and djing.
She worked, among others, for the
newspapers Capital, Se7e, Blitz and Diário de Notícias, collaborated with Elle magazine and various Lux
publications, and currently writes for the newspaper Observador. Furthermore,
she coordinated Rádio Oxigénio for 16 years, always tuned in to everything that
was happening nationally and internationally in the electronic/dance scene with all its multiple nuances
and derivations. She has been at Antena 3 since 2015 where she continues to
closely follow the so-called dance music (and not only) of the past and
present.
Although she considers herself more of
a Selector than a DJ, Isilda Sanches also plays music as
DJ, something she started doing almost simultaneously with radio and which she
sees as an opportunity for sharing and celebration.
