Joana Castro (1988, Porto) studied dance at Balleteatro Escola Profissional in 2006, attended the PEPCC (Study, Research and Choreography Programme) course at Fórum Dança in 2008, won a scholarship to the Núcleo de Experimentação Coreográfica in 2009 and in 2013 participated in the DanceWeb Scholarship Programme at the ImPulsTanz Festival in Vienna. She has collaborated and/or performed in pieces by Né Barros, Victor Hugo Pontes, Ana Borralho and João Galante, Flávio Rodrigues, Joana Providência, Joclécio Azevedo and others. Since 2009, she has worked on her own creations, some of which she has performed in Portugal, Belgium and Germany. She is currently taking a post-graduate course specialising in performance at the Faculdade de Belas Artes do Porto.
