Joana Providência has been one of the artistic directors at Teatro do Bolhão since its foundation. Among her many creations as a choreographer stand out “Vestígio” [Trace], based on the work by photographer Georges Dussaud, and co-produced by Teatro Municipal de Bragança, Teatro Municipal de Vila Real and Teatro do Bolhão; “Território” [Territory], based on the work by Alberto Carneiro, co-produced by Teatro do Bolhão, Culturgest and Comédias do Minho, and nominated for the Portuguese Authors Society Award for Best Choreography in 2013; “Mão na Boca” [Hand in Mouth], based on the work by Paula Rego, and co-produced by Teatro do Bolhão and the Serralves Foundation; and “Mecanismos” [Mechanisms],
which won the Sete d’Ouro New Talent Award. She participated in several international festivals.
