Senem Gökçe Oğultekin was born in Izmir, Turkey. She studied dance at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen. As a performer, she worked with artists such as VA Wölfl, Meg Stuart, Laurent Chétouane and Mara Tsironi. Her choreographic film Dun (Home) was selected for Istanbul Modern’s Artists’ Film International programme at the Whitechapel Gallery.
