Alain Platel returns with a new show, inspired by the music of Gustav Mahler and the time in which he lived. On stage, Alain Platel uses the body of a group of dancers to draw a parallel between music and the social and cultural problems of 20th Century Europe. Steven Prengels, who works with Platel on a regular basis, uses polyphonic African chants and the sounds of animals sleeping to create a surprising soundscape. This is a dance of life and of death.
Les ballets C de la B (Belgium) was founded by Alain Platel in 1984. Since then, the company has performed all over the world and enjoyed considerable success. Over the years, it has served as a platform for a broad range of artists and choreographers. Today, it is widely seen as an important base for the global affirmation of creative talent.
