OUROBOROS

national premiere

Performance inspired by Eva Clouard

and the image of the serpent biting

its tail.

This performance drew inspiration from

an installation by visual artist Eva Clouard

(France), which is titled “La Phobie du

Jardinier” [The Gardener’s Phobia] and

comprises several ‘serpents’ made out of

water hoses. Ouroboros is a mystic symbol

usually depicted by a circle or water. It

represents the notion of eternity through

the image of a serpent (or dragon) biting its

own tail. Based on semiotics, the circular

representation of ouroboros symbolises

life’s continuous evolution and movement,

aside from other meanings such as

resurrection, creation, destruction and

renewal. — FT
