Miguel Pereira attended the School of Dance at Lisbon's National Conservatory and Lisbon's Higher School of Dance. He was a scholarship holder in Paris (Théâtre Contemporain de la Danse) and in New York, with a scholarship from the Ministry of Culture. As a performer he worked with Francisco Camacho and Vera Mantero, among others. As choreographer he created "Antonio Miguel", a piece that won him the Ministry of Culture's José Ribeiro da Fonte Prize for best newcomer and an honourable mention in the Acarte/Maria Madalena Azeredo Perdigão prize (2000), "Notas Para Um Espectáculo Invisível" ("Notes for an invisible show") (2001), Data/Local ("Date/Place") (2002), "Corpo de Baile" ("Corps de Ballet") (2005), "Karima meets Lisboa meets Miguel meets Cairo", a collaboration with the Egyptian choreographer Karima Mansour (2006), "Doo" (2008), "Antonio e Miguel", ("Antonio and Miguel") a new collaboration with Antonio Tagliarini (2010) and most recently "Op. 49" (2012).
